Creative Marketing specialist II | barn2door
JUNE 2021 - SEPTEMBER 2023
As Creative Marketing Specialist II, I create all visual assets for the company’s marketing efforts. The joy of my role is that I get to work with every facet of the Marketing Team, from demand marketing efforts to assets for our partner team, along with various parts of the business, from product to sales. Having the wide array of focuses, I have been able to work with our brand in more ways than I could have imagined.
Since joining the team, I have spearheaded the further development of the company brand. Not only was a more modern approach to our styles wanted, but it needed in order to aid in the the company’s success and help establish our authority in the field.
The aim was to create a set of consistent styles that were carried throughout our site and were reflected in all our creative assets and form a cohesive, clean, and professional representation of the Barn2Door brand.
Below is a collection of my work with the Barn2Door brand and related assets.
i. website design
At its core, the Barn2Door website is a gathering location for all individuals interested in the company and what it offers — whether that be our potential customers, future employees, our partners, investors, individuals looking for farm food, and of course, our current customers. No matter the way you find us or why you are looking at our content, it is as important that we are accurately and consistently demonstrating not only our authority and position in the field, but who we and our brand is. This is why the website was the starting point for my role and our brand updates.
When I joined the team in June 2021, it was clear that the website was going to be an ongoing focus. Between June and November of that year, I lead the team as we gave the website a complete overhaul, updating every page and our website design. Since the overhaul, I have lead the way and updated the website on a weekly and monthly basis in order to ensure our content is updated and our brand representation is consistent on all channels.
In May of 2022, I proposed two major updated to the site — 1) removing hero images and replacing them with graphics and animations to help capture more visitors at the top of the page, and 2) adding two of our secondary color to help distinguish our types of content. After presenting the proposal to our executive team and gaining approval, the changes were implemented.
ii. animations and Graphics
As part of the evolution of the Barn2Door Brand, I worked alongside the Multimedia team to build out standard use and brand representation in animations. With added visual, I created a style of graphic that is now utilized on all assets to demonstrate the offered the software and services the company offers. I create all graphics and bases of animations in Adobe Illustrator and motion is added in After Effects. Below is are samples.
iii. product marketing
As the company continues to grow, so does our products and offerings. Part of my job has become leading the planning and marketing approach to our product releases — from doing initial research, to helping plan content, shooting video and photo content, to crafting training guides for our users. Below is a collection of assets created for the release of our latest product, out largest release to date: App Store creatives, training content, and a product graphic.
iv. ebook designs
Layout design is the key to effective communication no matter the format of your content. As part of my current role, I have had the pleasure of expanding upon my knowledge of crafting layouts for eBooks.
Each individual eBook is treated as its own brand and designed accordingly. The process begins with the crafting of the eBook Cover. That cover is then translated into a Branding Suite which is applied to the layout of the 15-30 page eBook. Once the book is approved and published, there are also digital ads and social media assets created to promote the book. Below are assets created for a recently published book.
v. brand development
Throughout what I do as the Creative Marketing Specialist, a primary focus is for me to further develop and establish the brand. Since joining the team in June of 2021, the goal as been to create a consistency in order for all of our assets and brand to be cohesive. The goal being that no matter where our brand and company are discovered, the individual will know it is the Barn2Door brand because of our cohesive message and style. This development has included, but is not limited to, new icons and icon treatments, font treatments, spacing and layout standards, photo guidelines, and new repeated design elements.
vi. layouts: worksheets, checklists & packets
As part of our service to our customers, we help educate and guide them to their success. This success is aided with worksheets, checklists and packets to guide our customer in the right direction. Below are sample of assets I have created with this purpose in mind.
The second row of samples is from a introductory packet for one of the program we run.
vii. ads: digital & print
Working with our Demand Marketing Team, I create all visual assets we use to promote our services and content to our current and future customers. A majority of our ads are run on Facebook so most ads are created for that media, however on occasion we run print ads (especially in association with conferences we attend and/or speak at).
viii. company assets & swag
Lastly, I get to work with the brand to both promote us with swag for both internal use and to provide at events. This includes t-shirts, cornhole sets, buttons, stickers, socks, conference booth materials, and much more. Below are samples of swag I have created, primarily for internal use.
